The Problems Orthodontic Treatment Can Fix

Posted .

Orthodontic treatment is a top-of-the-line way of achieving the smile you have always wanted. It takes your misaligned, unattractive smile and turns it into something you love and something you’re proud of. Because of the modern technology and advancements in orthodontic treatment, there are many problems orthodontics can fix. Our orthodontist, Dr. Michael Jacobsen, is happy to tell you all about them. Those problems are:

-Overbite: This is when the upper front teeth stick out over the lower teeth, which is also called “buck teeth.”

-Underbite: This is when the lower teeth stick out over the upper teeth or when the upper teeth are too far back. This problem usually creates a “bulldog” appearance.

-Crossbite: This is when the upper teeth fail to come down barely in front of the lower teeth when biting down.

-Open bite: This is when there is a space between the biting surfaces of the front or side teeth when the molars bite together.

-Misplaced midline: This is when the center of your front teeth does not line up with the center of your lower front teeth.

-Spacing: This is when you have gaps between your teeth because you have missing teeth or because your teeth just don’t fill the mouth.

-Crowding: This is when there are too many teeth for the jawbone to hold.
